From Concord books, this is the 42nd volume in their Special Ops series. This is subtitled "Journal of the Elite Forces & SWAT units".
Basically it is about what we now call anti-terrorist units and covers a wide variety of special units that are trained in stealth and generally armed to the teeth. Thanks to the radical and often violent extremism that persists in the world today, units like this are seen as necessary in most nations.
So it is that this edition covers several of them, from Belgian Special Forces, to French Legionnaires in Afghanistan, to a Maritime counterterrorism exercise in the US. There are also stories on Polish Commandos (with the faces of the men fuzzed out) and the Swiss Parachute Recon team.
Each of these stories is well told and, as they say, profusely illustrated with quality color photographs. Some of the photos are quite large and all crystal clear. I'm so pleased that the editors have chosen not to have images across 'the ditch' from page to page.
Overall, a most interesting look at these special units and an edition that I think you will enjoy reading.
