Here is another book that is new to me, but apparently has been around for a while. This particular book is on the battle for Monte Cassino in Italy during 1944. There is a brief historical background and then the book goes into a number of photographs.
In fact, this is basically a photo book using images of both sides of the conflict to help tell the story. The first half is from the German point of view while the second half has images of the Polish armored battalion that was a major force in assaulting the German defensive positions. There are a considerable number of images of their Shermans in this section, most of them in some sort of distress.
The center of the book has full page artwork of the men involved and goes into detailed description of their uniforms and equipment.
Overall, this is a superlative book for those who are looking for the greatest accuracy when doing figures or dioramas of the period and as such can be highly recommended.
