Concord has earned a reputation for doing superb photo books on World War II military equipment and this one continues that reputation with a look at a wide variety of armored vehicles. The book covers subjects from pre-war until the end of hostilities.
As usual, there are superbly chosen images from the various archives and personal collections. The title starts out with a look of the development of armored vehicles from the end of WWII and includes information on the clandestine factories and other 'arrangements' made with companies outside of Germany. This helped the German Heer stay abreast of the latest trends and continue to develop vehicles even against the tenants of the Versailles Treaty. It also covers the military's theories on what made a good AFV as well as issues against using women in the work force and why there were never enough spare parts.
But the real feast comes with the photographs. It starts with the SdKfz 221/222, goes through all the different panzers, includes self-propelled guns, the various types of StuG, and even some of the prime movers.
Images cover all the different fields of combat, though not surprisingly, most are from the Eastern Front where most of the armored fighting took place.
In addition to the excellent photo coverage, there are 8 pages of quality color profiles of various vehicles shown in the book's photographs, something I like to see in any book with profiles. It all makes for an excellent book on the subject and one that I know you will enjoy.
