A subject that fascinates a goodly number of modelers is the submarine. I've noticed that those who normally build aircraft or armor, when building a ship model will frequently choose a sub in general and a U-boat in particular.

This new book by Concord covers the German silent service throughout the war in a bevy of superb photographs showing all aspects of submarine duty. It starts with a short history and then commences with the images beginning with basic training of the U-boat sailors, moving on to actual submarine operational training and then to their posting on a fleet U-boat and what it is like to be underway.

In addition to the excellent photo coverage, there are pages of quality profiles of various submarines as well as cutaway drawings and illustrations of typical submarine bases, something that we rarely get to see. It all makes for an excellent book on the subject and one that I know you will enjoy.
