As many of you are aware, Germany was the greatest protagonist and user of what is known as sturmarillerie of any of the fighting powers. They developed a considerable number of these infantry support vehicles with the majority of them based on redundant tank chassis. Most common were those based on the Panzer III chassis though the Panzer IV and the Tiger, among others, had been converted.

This is the second volume of what is pretty much a photo book showing these vehicles in action. There is an opening historical section that covers some vehicles not shown in the photos as well as a brief operational description of their use. The real meat of the book is in the photos taken during the war. Most of these photos are on the eastern front and photographed by German photographers. There are some Allied images, but not that many.

The images are in type sequence and as you can imagine, there are more photos of the more widely built vehicles than others. The vast majority of the images are of variants of the StuG III with a few pages on the StuG IV and two photos of those based on the Tiger chassis. The images are well chosen for areas of interest and image quality so this is an excellent reference book for the hobbyist or just a fine photo compilation for the enthusiast. I found the color profiles to be a superb portion of the book. The artist has used subjects from the various photos for the profiles and that adds a great deal of interest. It is a book that I know you will enjoy and well worth the cover price.
