Continuing with their excellent photo archive books on the German Army in WWII, this latest edition covers the men of one of the longest lasting of the various SS divisions, Das Reich. Like all of Hitler's personal army, this unit was originally made up of men dedicated to their leader first and the country second. They had to be in top physical condition and were very well trained. They also got the latest and best equipment, often before regular Army units. In battle, they proved themselves to be aggressive and very good soldiers, willing to carry out orders that perhaps standard soldiers might think twice about.

This latest book by Concord covers the division from its training into and through the battle for France in mid-1940. As this is a photo book, there are a lot of very nicely chosen and generally clear photos taken from the archives and other sources that show not only the uniforms worn by these men, but also the equipment they used. In addition to the excellent photographs used in the book, there is a center section of color illustrations showing in more detail, some of the various uniforms and personal equipment used by these soldiers at this time.

Overall, it is another superb addition to a growing line of excellent photo books by Concord. If you have any interest in the subject, or just want to learn a bit more, then this is a book for you.
