Notes: DVD

This is the first in the Rotorwash Walk-Around series and starts off with short bodied UH-1 Hueys. These are the UH-1A/B/F/K/L/M/P aircraft. Most of these are Army versions, though there are representatives of USAF and USN types in there as well.

It should not be surprising that at this date, all the examples shown are in museums or outside display. There are 1,342 files on 3.72 Gigabytes of disc that cover over 20 examples that range in condition for 100% complete to those that are less than such. These files are also quite large to insure the best fidelity. Quality of the images is, for the most part, very good. I would suggest to the photographer that it would be prudent to take a flash for some outside photo work as on some images, the item to be shown is overwhelmed by the external ambient light.

All the image files are categorized by the subject aircraft and not by any specific attribute. In order to find specifics, one would need to use the browser search capabilities to find them. Using the following key words, one can find information on:

Armament-photos of weapons, sights, or attachment points
Belly
- all views below the doors and underneath the helicopter
Cabin-includes all views taken in cabin and associated equipment
Cockpit- includes seats, instrument panel, etc.
Compartments-views of open fuselage compartments
Door(s)-includes both cockpit and cabin doors
Engine-views of open engine compartment, transmission and exhaust
Fuselage-views that didn’t fit into another category.
Should be viewed as similar to “miscellaneous”  Beauty shots, such as they are will be in this view.
Nose- includes photos of open radio compartment in the nose
Roof- all view above the doors and above the helicopter
Rotor-views from the level of the rotor mast and above
Skids- all views that show good details of the skids and their attachments

Tail
- all views beyond the tailboom join to the fuselage.  This view includes the horizontal stabilizers and the tail rotor

Overall, it is a superb reference CD for those who want a comprehensive look at several examples in order to see what was what on various aircraft.

Thanks to Werner's Wings www.wernerswings.com  for the review CD.
