One of the most popular categories in post WWII air racing is the T-6 category. This is a class for pretty much stock appearing aircraft. Some have stock engines and systems and some have upgraded power plants and have been lightened of excess equipment for the maximum amount of performance.
Thanks to the ready availability and the ease of maintenance, these planes have been a pilot and fan favorite year after year since the 1950s.
These photos were taken at Air Races held in 1978, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. It appears that most are at Reno, though one may be at Mojave as air races were held there as well.
It very much looks like the entire field of each year is covered. There are images of both sides of many of the aircraft and since the CD is organized by year, you see several of the same aircraft. This gives a chance to see how they changed from year to year.
There are 162 images in 292 megabytes, which is a lot of T-6s. There are aircraft of every variant including SNJs and some early types as well. If you like the T-6 or air racers or just like to look and some very colorful aircraft, then this one is for you.
