Dave Cooper of DMC Models was kind enough to include this book when he sent me the Proteus 1/72 C-131 kit and it is an invaluable resource to any modeler who is considering doing this particular model.

It is also is a 'must have' for anyone contemplating doing the military version of the Convair airliner. As is so typical of these earlier books (this one is #14 and was published in 1987), it is just chocked full of images, making it even more useful to the modeler.

There is history and stats also included so it isn't like it is just a photo book. Each of the myriad of different variants of the military version is fully covered so you can tell the difference between a VC-131A and a standard C-131D or an R4Y-1 from a C-131F.

The book also covers many of the regular USAF/USN units that flew the plane along with photos. Later in its career, the C-131 was a favored hack and nearly every USAF ANG squadron had one at their disposal.

Overall, this is really an outstanding book on the type and even if you are just interested in the aircraft, it is one that you should consider for your shelves.
