NOTES:

Includes decal sheets

It is difficult to decide if this is a decal sheet with a killer instruction booklet or a book that includes great decals. Since Blue Rider is becoming more and more a publisher rather than a decal maker, it is the book section that gets this review.

The book consists of 52 pages and is in the 5x8 inch format of the two earlier efforts. The color is restricted to the covers and inside pages, however on the front and rear covers are 12 color profiles. Actually, Estonian aircraft of the time were not known for any fancy schemes, being mostly aluminum lacquer with just numbers, roundels and fin flashes.

A complete history of the air force including a chart listing each aircraft is given in the text. Most of the book is photographs, which is great for the modeler. There are a plethora of interesting subjects, mostly of British origin such as Avro Tutors, Hawker Harts, Sopwith Camels and DH.9s. Also are some German WWI types and some indigenous aircraft. One of the final types to enter service was the Henschel Hs-126, unfortunately there are neither photos nor drawings of this type in service.

In addition to the great book, are 1 1/3 sheets of decals. These are shown with the wax sheet still covering them so they appear a bit faded but are not at all. If you have the 1988 sheet on the Estonian AF, you will be pleased to know that none of those subjects is repeated on these sheets.

Included on these sheets are Sopwith Strutter, Sopwith Camel, Be.2, Avro 504K, Halberstadt CL.V, Spad VII, Hawker Hart, and Miles Magister. Now finding some of these kits may be a bit problematical, but most are available in 1/72, though they may have been out of production for some time. I know that I have a Magister squirreled away just for a sheet like this.

If you like small air forces, this is a great resource.
