Here is another of the really great 'On Target' series of profile books. Many of us really find books on camouflage and markings to be the more interesting of all the various modeling references available. I know that I'm particularly drawn to them and this series is among the best that you can find in that regard. Jon Freeman's artwork is absolutely superb and gives a clear representation of various camouflage schemes used by the aircraft without resorting to some of the more distracting artistic effluvia that one sees in other, similar works.
The editor sums things up quite nicely by stating: "On Target profiles are designed to complement your existing...reference material. They...act as sources of inspiration...". Well put and right on the mark. As with the other books in the series, there is a great reference section and there are decal sheets available to complement the series.
The book covers the Hawk series from day one until the present and is divided into five sections for easy reference. Those are: RAF; Demonstrators; Europe, Australia, and North America; Africa and Middle East; and Asia.
With the recent release of new Hawk kits by Airfix, this is a book that will come in most handy. It is one that I've thoroughly enjoyed browsing through and I know that you'll find this series to be equally as entertaining and useful to you in modeling this important aircraft.
