This is edition thirteen of 'On Target Profiles', a series that is just what the title says, a book full of color profiles and four views. However, it is much more than a simple profiles book as each profile has a full write-up on the aircraft's unit, color scheme,  and markings  as well as any interesting bits of information on the aircraft or camo scheme.

This edition covers one of my favorite jet aircraft, the brutish and powerful Lightning. It covers the full range of E.E. Lightnings from the initial prototypes to the current display and warbird aircraft. As with all these books, there is page after page of superbly done profiles as well as many pages of photographs of the aircraft during different times of its life. Some of the images will be familiar to Lightning fans, while many more will be brand new.

Of particular interest to most will be the rather extensive coverage of the aircraft in Saudi and Kuwaiti service. Little has been published about these aircraft and I'm sure that many will find this section especially appealing.

These profiles are superbly drawn by Peter Scott and you will have seen his work in a number of enthusiast model magazines. Though not included with the book a series of decal sheets is available from the publisher at the link provided below. If the publisher is amenable, perhaps they'll send a review copy or two (1/72 please). :o)

This is, in my opinion, a truly excellent publication, and not only for the modeler, but also for the aviation enthusiast. I know that it is one that will be used as a reference time and time again. Most highly recommended.
