NOTES: | Resin |
Spectre Resins has chosen the Mk.6 nuclear weapon for their fourth bomb subject. Personally, I like seeing these sorts of things released. Those who are in tune with these will not only use them in dioramas with the appropriate aircraft, but may well modify some of those to include them. Then there is the ability to do the whole series of them for a display similar to the old 'Airpower' display that Monogram had back in the 50's.
Anyway, this is a two piece kit for the first mass produced US bomb. It was 60 inches in diameter and so required a rather large bomb bay. Fortunately it would fit in a B-29, B-36, B-47, B-50 or B-52 without any real problems. It also fit in the Navy's AJ Savage aircraft. These were in the inventory from 1951 through 1957 and was tested (as in dropped) several times.
Like other Spectre Resins products, the casting is very good and it comes with a full set of instructions that provides a history of the bomb along with painting information.
