Reusable

Like most modelers, I am always looking for something new and interesting. Many of us have used a variety of methods to mask our models. We have generally used either tape or masking fluids. These work well for a variety of uses, but have their drawbacks.

One option for doing large area masking is a masking putty of some sort. The one offered by Flying Fish Models comes in a 50 gram container, is easily kneaded, does not dry out and can be reused over and over again. It also does not leave a residue on your model or on your hands.

You simply roll out sections of it an apply it to your model. Then you simply spray on the layer of paint. How closely you spray to the putty will determine how fine or fuzzy the demarcation is between the shades. When done, you pick it off the model and ready it for the next use.

My thanks to Flying Fish Models for the review sample. You can get these direct.
