This isn't your standard modeling item so it won't be in your standard review format. The folks at Digital Aviation Art. Com have come up with a really neat way to provide a quality piece of artwork that is both superbly done and quite personal.

Their motto is "Let us turn your models into aviation art", and that is exactly what they do. They offered to take any model image I had and turn it into artwork so that I could see just what they do and report on it to you. I have to say that they have done a truly superb job. I sent in several images, and they chose the largest of them as it had the most detail and was easier for them to work with.

In my case it was the Hasegawa 1/48 RF-4E Phantom II that I built a few years back. I sent in the main image as shown below.

After some back and forth e-mails, through which they showed me how the work was progressing and ensured that I was satisfied with the final product, I eventually received a mailing tube that included the final print. After some shopping around for an appropriate frame, I found a simple one in the proper 16 x 20 size of the print.

Artist Bob Rivera came up with the superb rendition; 'Rising Suns' that you see to the right. in addition to closing the canopies and raising the wheels, the aspect of the image has been slightly changed  and the accompanying RF-4E has had its serial numbers and nose artwork altered so that there are not two of the exact same aircraft.

To say that I'm impressed and quite pleased would be an understatement. This is a great idea and the price is quite reasonable, starting at what you'd pay for a 1/48 Hasegawa F-4 kit. It provides a truly unique product that you will enjoy for years to come.
