Custom Dioramics 1/32 Marsden Mat Base
|REVIEWER:||Scott Van Aken|
Let's say that you have a 1/32 Korean War airplane model; an F-80C, for example. It looks great on the shelf, but you think it deserves more. So how about a super 13.5" x 13.5" resin base typical of the surface used during the Korean War?
Custom Dioramics has developed a superbly molded Marsden Mat base complete with a section of the base in quality molded mud and gunk. These interlocking mats were used because Korea had few paved runways and when it rains, even hard packed dirt could quickly turn into a quagmire, making operations impossible.
This base needs little more than perhaps a warm soapy wash to remove any mold release material and then it is ready to paint. The box art is as good a place as any to get an idea of how to paint it and you can find color photos in a number of books and on-line. This is a great way to display your Korean War aircraft and gives you a place to put all those neat diorama accessory kits you have stashed away.
