I just
received a nice set of decals in the mail and it took me all of 4 minutes to
keep from tearing open the package.
As a
wise man once said, one can never have too many Phantom decals, which is why I
bought the Hi-Decal line sheet 48-025. This sheet consists of an A5 size decal
sheet and a smaller insert with Stars and Bars. The sheet covers 7 different
F-4D’s ranging from a Korean air force one all the way across the Pacific
through 4 US air force version, and ending in Iran, with both an Imperial
Iranian air force one and an Islamic Iranian F-4D.
The
instructions, when unfolded are an A3 size sheet of paper. The coloring
instructions are in black and white (various shades of dots to depict the
colors). The colors are mentioned in both Humbrol and Model Master color
numbers, along with their FS numbers.
The decals
are very nicely printed (I can easily read the stenciling, which can’t be said
for all decals), with a minimum of carrier film.
I have to be
honest and tell you that I bought the sheet only for the “Cloud Grey” scheme, as
the F-4D’s were painted in when they flew in the 704th
TFS, 924 TFG, USAF Reserve, Bergstrom AFB Texas (a few of which were seen at
Tyndall AFB in October of 2006, during the yearly Phancon). But having reviewed
the sheet, I’ll definitely be building at least three of the aircraft depicted
on this sheet.
The review
example was courtesy of my own wallet (at € 10, I think it’s good value, but
I’ll let you decide).
This sheet
is definitely recommended for those who like Phantoms.
Happy
modeling.
