NOTES:

WWP #3

Published in the now familiar format of A4 landscape with 108 pages packed full of detailed colour photographs in total there are a staggering 489. This is a very big book with an extra 28 pages and over 150 more photographs than in the normal publications.

The vehicles that are covered are as follows.

Each vehicle is given the once over and shows all the required details for model makers and vehicle restorers.

Split in the usual format of walk around, close up details, exterior details, cab details interior details, engine details, gearbox details, front and rear axle details, fifth wheel details. See note at end.

The level of detail in the photographs is truly breath taking. I am lucky enough to be able to attend some of the largest Military Rallies in the World, so I know first hand how large these vehicles can be and what problems you have in taking photographs of them. For the authors to take the photographs and portray them in such a clear and concise manner is, a tribute to how they understand not only the subject, but then to make them available to those who are not as lucky as I am.

Those model makers with the ability to scratch build will undoubtedly find this book inspirational as well as the after market producers of photo etch and resin parts.

Note: A word of caution; do not take that each vehicle portrayed is as lain down in the TM or FM books for use in the US Army.

It is up to the vehicle owner and restorer how he wishes to represent his vehicle and legal requirements for road use in their country.

A winner once more from Franti and his team, congratulations on a job well done, my thanks to Franti for the advance copy for review.
