NOTES: |
|
Since this is the first edition I will only
point out the sections in this copy, The editors I feel will settle down to
regular columns and sections as it develops.
- An article about the Frog
Missile carrier that turned up for the second year at Beltring MV rally.
- Fifth Columnist a humours
point of a lady married to a military vehicle collector.
- Wading a very interesting
article on the development of water proofing for military vehicles and deep
wading. Up to you necks and over in many cases, fully detailed photographs
oft the trials of various British vehicles, Humber I ton and Champs.
- Post room a reader's section
and views.
- War and Peace show a brief
coverage of the Beltring MV rally last year. In truth it has to be brief for
to give full coverage would require several books.
- The restoration story of a
WC56 Command Car and its fate afterwards.
- The Conqueror Tank a brief
outline of this much miss researched tank. Very informative and well done.
- The Motor pool, A guide to the
collecting of Military vehicles with all the pros and cons laid out, well
research and highly readable.
- Crushing comment just what
happens to Military vehicles when their service days are over, in this case
the fate of the M151 Mutt.
- A very usefull section on the
hidden meanings behind certain acronyms used by military vehicle buffs.
- Show dates in the UK and a
very usefull section for planning those unexpected trips out into the
countryside.
- The Scammell Commander Tank
Transporter, How it was sold in the trade leaflets etc.
- Photographic Intelligence
Section a photomontage of military vehicles with brief write-ups. Very
usefull and will grow into a usefull reference section over time.
- Not for the faint hearted how
to remove the engine form an Alvis stalwart.
- The Wings of Pegasus, a very
good and well research article on some of the modifications carried out the
JEEP in the service of the Paras WW2.
- Bundeswehr the first
generation of West German military vehicles in this case the Munga.
- Old Soldiers scrap yards and
just what lies lurking in the undergrowth, usefull for model makers who want
to see rusting or damaged vehicles.
- The Hotchkiss Jeep and the
differences to the original Jeep usefull for those model makers who want to
make the French version.
- The Pioneer Spirit a close
look at the Scammell Pioneer of WW2 and those which have survived into
preservation today.
- Mufti is a section devoted to
ex military vehicle, which are now used by civilian operators and may come
back into the military vehicle-collecting ring hopefully.
So in conclusion just what do you
get for your money, simply a cracking good read, plenty of original photographs
and more importantly highly informative. If the Military vehicle is your subject
be it from a restoring or modelling or even historical point of view then this
is must have. Each article is backed up with original and in many cases
previously unpublished photographs in both black and white and colour all are to
a very high standard, sharp clear and full of detail.
It is going to grow into a
usefull research magazine and hopefully fill the gap left by Wheels and Tracks
magazine.
Order your copy now I know you
will not be disappointed, I look forward to the next edition. Highly
recommended.
