NOTES:

Published in A4 landscape format and all the photographs are completely in black and white. It contains the following subjects; Kleines Kettenkraftrad, WWII Dodge 3/4-ton series of trucks, DUKW Amphibious truck and the recovery of the German Sig 33/1 Grille SPG.

The 98 pages are crammed full of 228 good quality photographs of the above subjects.

To start with the Kettenkrad this will only add to all previous publications and for those who want to super detail the kit. You would be hard pushed to find better photographs to help in super detailing the larger scale kits by Esci or Dragon.

The Dodge series of photographs could not come at a better time, with the new Skybow range of models now becoming available; these will be used time and time again. Used in conjunction with reviews in all the model press. It will help to enhance and develop the models to a museum standard.

The DUKW set will only add to the requests for a model to made in plastic; they should prove usefull to any one contemplating a scratch build on one of the various GMC kits available now.

The SIG 33/I Grille SPG is the best I have seen on this vehicle for a long time, especially the part showing the recovery from the river, on a personnel note I would like to have seen more. Great help with the New SIG 33 kit by Allan Hobbies, I noted one thing wrong in the kit, there is no gap between the barrel locking ring and the breach block. A new scratch build barrel will be needed to correct this. Just one of the items I noticed in the book.

On a personnel note there are two things in the book that could do with addressing. The contrast on some of the photographs is a little dark in certain areas. Could this be that they are black and white prints taken from original colour photographs? This mainly applies to those taken of restored vehicles at Military Rallies. Secondly why are there no negative numbers listed with the photographs? It says "IWM", if the negative number was included, I know again from personnel research that; the photograph is only one of a series. It would be nice to be able to research the whole set for the information they contain.

I can only see one tiny error and that is on page 7, The Soldier filling the gas cans, sorry chaps but the cans are for "Water Only" as can be clearly seen by the over large and special neck shape to that type. I do hope the soldiers were not filling them with GAS.

In conclusion, a well thought out and very informative book on subjects that is of use to model makers and researchers. If they iron out the contrast problems and lack of negative numbers, then they will score higher points, as it is I give them 8 out of 10.

I recommend it to all serious model makers and researchers buy it now before they sell out. I bought mine on the open market for retail price of £12-95.
