Zéphyr Editions MIRAGE F1 ESCADRON DE RECONNAISSANCE 2/33 SAVOIE

In 2014 , the last no-delta wing design by Dassault left the air superiority.

the “arrow” and ”slick “ fighter famous Mirage F1 was the old soldier to be retired. The armée de l’air in its cost program, planned to keep two type aircrafts in the air; the Mirage 2000 and Rafale.

F1CR (for Chasse-Reconnaissance for Fighter-Recon) was a development of the F1C( for Chasse , Fighter) in 1970’s.

The famous squadron SAVOIE (east France region with mountain) is display in pictorials.

French Author and Photograph, Alexandre Paringuaux is well known for its excellent work and publications covering the French Air Force.

Theses 144 pages display 69 b/w pictures (also with views from recon) and 353 color pictures. Images vary in size and are either portrait or landscape according to subject, the quality is first rate , a trade mark of Zephyr editions productions.

Except the traditional forewords and thanks the book is divided in 10 chapters :

 Chapter one : FROM TRENCHES TO MALI

The first 25 pages cover both the history from trenches in 1915 to Mali in SERVAL operation en 2013. All aircrafts types as been pictures.

Chapter two: IOPERATION SERVAL

The next 6 pages cover the days of mission in Mali.

Chapter three and four :  RECOMMANDANTS and ESCADRON TODAY

The following 22 pages display the “rountine” of days buy days in France.

Chapter six : LES SPECIALISTES DU F1

8 pages have pictures with mechanics and details of the F1 aircraft.

Chapter seven to nine : SHOT COMPAIGN, OPERATIONAL ALERT,RECCE MEET2014.

Theses 16 pages cover actions of aircrafts and humans aside.

Chapter dix : THE MIRAGE F1 AND AFRICA

46 pages are the backbone of this book. Desert from aside and above with Mirages which were its companion.

This superb book cover all aspect of the squadron, planes and missions until the disbanded.
