Specific information:

OK, here is how this one will work. This is an aircraft contest. It is for those military aircraft which are no longer in service with the original user or buyer. This is for the period AFTER WWII. For this purpose, ANG and Reserves are considered original user as they are all part of the USAF or USN (in the case of American aircraft; similar for the Auxiliary AF in Commonwealth nations).

The aircraft could be ones sold to another country as excess, sold on the civil market, or in use by another branch of the armed forces other than the one who originally used them. I expect this will bring in a plethora of USAF A-1s and T-28s as well as USN F-5s, but I must warn you that they have to be those swapped over to whatever the alternate branches of service are and not those bought specifically for those users.

That means no F-16Ns, for example, nor any new build aircraft such as Japanese-made F-86F-40s, F-104s, F-4s, F-15s or Belgian made F-16s, or Italian built F-104s, or Czech built MiG-15s and so on unless they were sold as surplus to other countries. This also means that things like some F-4s built for Turkey or Greece or Israel, as well as F-16s built for those countries and others that went straight from the factory in the US to the receiving country without ever having been in US service. This would be the case for nearly all Northrop F-5 airframes. These planes would not be eligible.THE NEED TO DO THE RESEARCH IS YOURS. In some cases it is little more than the need to have the appropriate serial numbers.

If you have any doubts, don't contact me on it, post your inquiry to the -Forums- and there you'll get your answers. Either from me when I read it or from other readers who may well know more about the specific situation than I. As with all other contests, if there are doubts and no one can answer your questions, I'll include it, but if I get any e-mails that show it is ineligible, I'll pull it.

This subject is one that was suggested by a reader so I do actually consider those contest requests that you send in. I know this is a lot to take in. I've several much simpler ones in mind, but this one seems do-able and should bring in some very interesting entries.
