This is another out of the box contest. It is open to any kit that has been in an AMT/ERTL box and that includes a rather large number of reboxes over the years.
You must provide the box top for this one to verify that it was marketed by AMT/ERTL
Things you can do to the kit are minimal since it is out of the box. This includes rigging, wire antennas, adding seat belts/harnesses, thinning parts and opening vents/gun barrels/exhaust, and using aftermarket decals. You can not use any aftermarket resin or photoetch parts nor can you scratchbuild missing items. Several entries were disqualified last time because of this.
If you have any questions, post them on the -Forums-.
As with all other contests, if there are doubts and no one can answer your questions, I'll include it, but if I get any e-mails that show it is ineligible, I'll pull it.
There will be no Display Section.
Awards are fully dependent on what is received. If you wish to help with providing awards, contact me.
Here are the out
of the box rules by IPMS USA to use as a guide
FINISH. All finishing techniques are allowed. Decals other than those
included with the kit may be used. Insignia, markings, and instrument panels
may be hand-painted instead of decaled. Weathering is permitted.
CONSTRUCTION. The modeler may fill seams and gaps; sand off rivets; drill
out gun ports, exhaust pipes, or other appropriate openings; thin to scale
such parts as trailing edges, flaps, and doors; add rigging and antennas;
and add simple tape or decal seat belts in the cockpit of an aircraft or the
interior of a vehicle (NO commercial or modeler-manufactured hardware -
e.g., buckles, etc.). (I don't mind if you add p.e. belts to cars and
planes)
IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO: vacuform, manufacture, or replace any part, or
substitute parts from another kit; cut or separate canopies, surfaces,
hatches, doors, etc. (no major surgery); combine a standard kit with a
conversion kit; add anything other than specified on the instruction sheet
except as shown above.
